Edmonton’s one of the most affordable cities in North America

Edmonton is one of the most affordable cities in North America to buy a home.

Edmonton. What are we known for? Winter. The Edmonton Oilers. Our incredible river valley. Vibrant city life, and top tier restaurants. Well, make sure you add housing affordability onto the list.

The title says it all. In Oxford Economics‘ recent report, Edmonton remains near the top of the ranks when it comes to housing affordability in North America. Edmonton just misses the top three; narrowly losing out to only Columbus, Quebec City, and Chicago.

With the cost of living and housing specifically seemingly on a never ending rise, I know it definitely doesn’t feel like it. But, in Edmonton we are in one of the best places we could possibly be.

Edmonton takes the number 2 spot for housing affordability in Canada. There’s two things that I absolutely love about this.

  1. Alberta being strongly represented here with Calgary also in the top 10 in North America and top 5 in Canada.
  1. Edmonton ranks better than Calgary.

Edmonton and Calgary are both amazing cities and it’s nice to see them both well below the national average.

I’d love to be the one to break the news about the hike in housing prices ending, but that’s unfortunately not a reality that we live in. It seems like that is going to be a trend that will continue for the foreseeable future. If you’re interested in a longer read into that check out the full report here
